Subaru Canada has announced that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recognized Subaru as the only automotive manufacturer earning awards for every model it builds.
Subaru picked up five awards in total, enabling it to become the only automaker with a 2012 Top Safety Pick for all models.
“Right from its underpinnings, safety is top of mind for Subaru’s engineering and design team,” said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, in a statement. “We are very pleased that the IIHS has recognized us again as the only manufacturer with a 2012 Top Safety Pick winner for all models.”
The Top Safety Pick designation recognizes vehicles that, in IIHS testing, do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear and now rollover crashes based on ‘good’ ratings in each category. The IIHS ranks in terms of ‘good’, ‘acceptable’, ‘marginal’ and ‘poor’. Winners also must have electronic stability control.
